The Coffee Guide (TCG): What coffee do you use at work?
Shannon: Cadenza by Roastcraft.
TCG: If you weren’t a barista what would you be?
Shannon: A musician. Love singing and playing my guitar.
TCG: How do you have your coffee at home? How do you make it and how do you take it?
Shannon: Have to go out try to go somewhere I haven’t been before.
TCG: What’s the best thing about your job- the one thing that you really love aside from the coffee?
Shannon: My customers and the cool people I work with.
TCG: What is your favourite music? (For work or for play).
Shannon: Anything positive. Nothing too slow or depressing.
TCG: What’s your favourite food?
Shannon: I Love my steak.
TCG: Tell us what your best (or first) coffee experience was.
Shannon: Coffee at my mate’s parent’s deli when I was 14.
TCG: If you’re not drinking coffee, what is your drink of choice?
Shannon: Beer!
TCG: Do people often try and chat you up at work? Have you ever taken the offer up?
Shannon: No Never!
TCG: What food do you think is the best compliment to a really great coffee?
Shannon: Chocolate or a sweet pastry.
TCG: How many coffees would you make in the average day?
Shannon: 200 to 300.
TCG: What’s the largest amount of coffees you have made in a day?
Shannon: Over 1000!
TCG: Does your coffee style (or how you drink it) say something about you?
Shannon: For some people, definitely yes!
TCG: Who would make a better coffee, King Kong or Godzilla?
Shannon: King Kong would smash it out.
TCG: What is the most exciting thing happening in coffee right now for you?
Shannon: I just love how there are so many cafes in Melbourne producing amazing coffee and food.
TCG: If you could pick one spot in the world to sit and have a coffee, where would it be and what coffee would you have?
Shannon: Somewhere in Europe with my girlfriend.
TCG: As a barista, what’s your next big plan?
Shannon: I just want to eventually open my own little café- after a lot of traveling though!
TCG: Where is your favourite place to hang out in Melbourne?
Shannon: Anywhere with good food and live music, which isn’t hard to find here.
TCG: In a good cup of coffee, how much of it is due to the barista and how much is due to the beans?
Shannon: Beans! The barista helps and a good machine and grinder too.
TCG: Is decaf a dirty word?
Shannon: No, just the wastage of coffee that goes into getting the caffeine out.
TCG: What is your favourite kind of tea?
Shannon: Irish Breakfast with lots of milk.
