58 Epsom Road, Zetland, NSW
This glass-enclosed espresso joint is all clinking teaspoons, whirring grinder and hissing steam wands, the noise bouncing of the marbled and mirrored surfaces. A large window at the rear showcases the more industrial side of coffee, with bags of bean and roasting equipment to provide a peek behind the polished urban façade of espresso culture.
There’s a nice menu featuring freshly baked sourdough, but let’s be honest — we’re here for the famed coffee.
Prompt staff deliver a caramel-adorned espresso, and its flavour hits the mouth with a thump. A playful acid dances on the tongue, velvety and thick, with sweet, luscious tones of buttered popcorn. The piccolo latte is equally impressive, carrying the richness of the espresso through nicely steamedmilk. The aftertaste seems to linger forever – long afterthe coffee cacophony has fallen away – and a return visit is irresistible.
