The Coffee Guide (TCG): If you weren’t a barista what would you be?
Belinda: An English teacher.

TCG: What’s the best thing about your job- the one thing that you really love aside from the coffee?
Belinda: The relaxed atmosphere and the people I work for are lovely.

TCG: What is your favourite music? (For work or for play).
Belinda: I really love 60’s British rock. Is that daggy?

TCG: What’s your favourite food?
Belinda: Cheese! It’s so indulgent…

TCG: If you’re not drinking coffee, what is your drink of choice?
Belinda: Wine. Because it goes with cheese.

TCG: What made you become a barista?
Belinda: I just really enjoy making coffee.

TCG: What food do you think is the best compliment to a really great coffee?
Belinda: Milk chocolate, no frills.

TCG: What’s the largest amount of coffees you have made in a day?
Belinda: Probably 150 or so.

TCG: What has been your favourite moment as a barista? Is there one story that only happened to you because you are a barista?
Belinda: I get warm fuzzies whenever people compliment my coffee.

TCG: What is the most exciting thing happening in coffee right now for you?
Belinda: There seems to be more customers interested in buying their own coffee machines and grinders for home use. Lots more people are becoming curious about techniques and blends because they want to be able to have café quality coffee at home.

TCG: If you could pick one spot in the world to sit and have a coffee, where would it be, and what coffee would you have?
Belinda: Looking out over the Arno River in Florence with an espresso. Bliss.

TCG: As a barista, what’s your next big plan?
Belinda: I’m studying to be an ESL teacher, so that’s pretty big I guess. Now I just have to decide where to teach!

TCG: Where is your favourite place to hang out in Melbourne?
Belinda: I love 1806 for a smashing old school cocktail.

TCG: Do you have any pets?
Belinda: 1 cat called Louie. She lives with my mum, but she still remembers me when I go to visit.

TCG: In a good cup of coffee, how much of it is due to the barista and how much is due to the beans?
Belinda: 90% coffee 10% barista.

TCG: Is decaf a dirty word?
Belinda: Not dirty, just pointless. Have a herbal tea!

TCG: What is your favourite kind of tea?
Belinda: Black tea.

TCG: What is your favourite alternate brewing method?
Belinda: Syphon
