122 Smith Street, Summer Hill, NSW
Part breakfast getaway, part tapas bar, part cocktail hotspot‚ this cafe seems to have several muses -but we love them all.
The stain-glassed shopfront overlooks the hub of Summer Hill, and inside it’s suburban-cosy, with plush, warm decor. Breakfast and lunch menus are pretty much Mod Oz, but the cafe also dabbles in tapas, and you can enjoy Mediterranean morsels with a cocktail on the side. Various seating areas (main floor, upstairs, back room and courtyard) afford ample space -if also some service black holes.
After devouring a delicious Grilled Vegetable Open Sandwich, it’s time for a coffee or two. My latte is creamy and mellow, possessing a mild aroma and acidity. The espresso is a far more powerful encounter: with a spicy, fragrant aroma and sharp, vibrant acidity, its slick, oily consistency means it’s gone in a flash.
Next time — a double.
