Sitting at the communal table in The Breakfast Club, I let my hair fall into my face, Ally Sheedy style, and suddenly feel right at home. Fans of the eponymous film will know exactly what I mean -everyone else will just see a scruffy looking chick sipping a really excellent macchiato.
It may be named after that coming-of-age movie, but this tiny cafe has much more to recommend it. For a start it’s got that ‘share-house lounge room’ charm of faded fabrics mixed with wicker chairs. It’s also got a great menu (try the Brie and Quince Ringwald), as well as staff who are full of gentle smiles and relaxed attitude.
And finally, that Supreme short macchiato really is fantastic. Round and elegant, smooth with a hint of hazelnuts, it’s the kind of coffee that’s gone too quickly and demands another. So I settle in with a soy latte and find the nuttiness coming through again. It sure beats detention.
