Shop 3/50 Hunter Street, Sydney, NSW, 2000
This place is well known, well stocked, and the customers are always well looked after -it’s a cut above the run-of-the-mill busy cafe in Sydney’s CBD.
The sandwich I order is no ordinary lunchbox filler, either. It comprises a grain-fed scotch fillet steak, served with Sugarbean’s own special sauce, and is filling and wholesome enough to keep me going in the office for the rest of the week. The menu changes daily, and some current highlights from the international kitchen include Portuguese Chicken Salad and the Greek Lamb Wrap.
Then there’s nothing like a good Grinders coffee to help with digestion after a hearty meal. As the short black is delivered, the aroma alone is tantalising -its chocolaty fumes makes it feel more like a dessert. It has a medium body, is high in acidity, and the nutty aftertaste lingers nicely for a while. A far from ordinary coffee to boot.
